Yacht Cerulean Atlantic Adventure

This journey started when I first sailed across the English Channel from Weymouth to the Alderney in the Channel islands as a young lad, and thought I had arrived at a paradise Island, that adventure on my father's small sailing boat was start my dream to sail across the Atlantic. 44 years later that dream is coming true.

We acquired Cerulean of Penryn, a cutter rigged Seastream 43 in July 2015, with the intention of sailing her across the Atlantic. We have spent the past two years refitting and upgrading her as well as sailing across the Channel to the Channel Islands Northern France and up down the Solent and South Coast.

We signed up to do the ARC+2018 back in December last year and that gave us the focus to make it happen. We planned to take a year off work, leaving the UK at the end of July to give us plenty of time to get down to the Canary Islands via the Iberian peninsula and Portugal in fair weather, for the ARC+ departure date of 11th November from Las Palmas, gran Canaria. From Las Palmas we head to the Cape Verde Islands, then across to the St Lucia in the Caribbean mid December, hopefully arriving after the hurricane season is finished. We intend to sail around the Windward Islands and the Bahamas through to May 2019 when we shall start heading back home across the Atlantic before the hurricane season starts again in the Caribbean. Our route back shall take us via Bermuda and the Azores, and we should be home July 2019 and ready to go back to work...older but wiser...
