A ship is safe in harbour...but that's not what they are for

The Cerulean Big Atlantic Adventure is now over. We are moored back at our home port of Gosport in the UK, and our adventure is rapidly turning into just a memory.

Atlantic Harmony

Wind, waves, boat and sea in harmony speeding us on our way

The south south westerly wind over our larboard quarter

A moderate breeze at force four fairly frequent white horses

six knots, sometime seven, yet hardly seem to moving at all

one hundred and forty three miles since yesterday the best yet

The waves may be five foot or more every four secs, or there about

Rolling us gently, like you would a baby in a crib, nothing too much

Yes, its every seventh one, maybe the sixth its a bit bigger rolls us a bit more

Yes, we are heeled over a wee bit starboard tack the cupboard stay shut

I lay in the cockpit enjoying the air looking out to sea

The sun kisses my face now and then as it peeps over the shade and back again

No clouds in the sky, not one just a magnesium white orb the sun

A soft haze on the horizon uniform in every direction you look

No quite alone a sail on the horizon our friends in yacht Emotion

lunch, yes please, fresh tomato, basil and garlic served on melba toast,

holding the plate level so it does not slide off

followed by an apple and some cheese all washed down with some squash

A tanker glides by, two miles to the north the Sam John Legacy bound for US Baltimore

The captain drinking fine tea from a porcelain cup not spilling a drop

our tea brewed in the mug, stands in the muggy, but it spills all the same

we don't see many ships out here a few more now than before

eight hundred miles from anywhere nine days out, maybe six to go

onward to the north east we keep going our Cerulean in harmony with the sea.

15/05/19 somewhere in the North Atlantic

If I don't write these things down whilst I think of them I soon forget them. Alison writes such thoughts in a journal. If I did that I would not be able to read them again, so I leave my thought with you for safe keeping til we are back home, if that is ok.
