A ship is safe in harbour...but that's not what they are for

The Cerulean Big Atlantic Adventure is now over. We are moored back at our home port of Gosport in the UK, and our adventure is rapidly turning into just a memory.

Boat time 05:00 (UT-3)

...some say it is best that I forget them anyway...

Still going well and heading north east and keeping ahead of the weather. The sea is still kindly. The currrent is generally keeping in our favour all the time now which is a great help, giving us on average an extra knot speed over ground than our boat speed, that's an extra 24NM per day free, bringing our ETA a day closer. over 4 or 5 days.

A sign that we are moving further east and north is that the sunsets have got earlier and the sunrise earlier, this mornings sunrise 04:50 boat time. which is half and hour or so earlier than yesterday morning. We have actually crossed two time lines on this passage from Bermuda at 64deg W and we are now 44deg W. Time changes 1hr for every 15 degrees westwards from the Greenwich, or Prime Meridian 0deg00. So we are actually in time zone UT - 1 rather than the boat time of UT-3 we are keeping for the duration of this passage. It does not make a lot of difference to us, it just means that rise is a lot earlier than it would otherwise be. For me it means that now when i get up for my 04:00 watch it is already starting to get light with the dawn twilight, and I can have my morning cup of cha as the sun rises which is nice for me. This mornings sunrise was a particularly nice one with no thick cloud on the horizon to obscure it completely. Looks as though it will be a nice day again.
