We had a great walk yesterday in the countryside north of Lagos with lots of greenery and some very rolling hills. The sun came out after a couple of weeks of cloudy and drizzly weather.
We're getting plenty of jobs finished off, all that are left should be doable in a day for each job. So that brings us closer to the time we can leave Lagos and head on east.
The fridge still isn't 100% however. We've had some good assistance from the people in Portimao but no one seems able to say definitely what is wrong. Colin took the plate and pipes out again, carried them on the train to Portimao and had a dryer unit fitted into the pipe which will help remove any moisture in the gas. Whilst the plate was out we tipped it upside down and blew air through it using the dinghy pump. This resulted in some greeny coloured gunge coming out of the plate. Our thinking is that the plate was getting blocked with this gunge which was expanding as the plate was cooling. It seems to have had some positive effect and the system no longer locks up, but it now takes a long time to get cold which would be a problem when at anchor as our batteries would end up drained all the time. We're hoping that by adjusting the valve on the holding plate and varying the amount of gas we can get it working correctly again.
