Cala Molto
8th July
A lovely bimble sail north was had from Porto Cristo, sometimes doing only 2 to 3 knots in a F2, as it was only 16nm trip and a lovely day we just kept slowly bimbling away. We could see Menorca 20nm away with a big cloud bank hanging over. Not many boats in this NE corner of Mallorca which has been good for finding anchoring space.
There was quite a swell so we pulled into Cala Molta rather than Cala Gat which looked like it might have some respite from swell, sadly no. Lots of soft sand to get the anchor dug into interspersed with large, flat rocks. The water was so clear it was easy to spot the rocky areas in 6m water and Colin released the anchor perfectly into a strip of sand between two rocks.
The water was electric blue coloured and warmer than previous anchorages. We waited for the swell to drop a little as there were small breaking waves along the tiny beach. When we did get ashore it was a little perturbing to pull the dinghy onto the beach whilst nudists sat by and watched! The sand was lovely and soft. A shame we don't have longer here as there is 4.5km walk up into the hills from the beach, but easterly winds are due which makes this cala unprotected.
As the wind died overnight Emerald wallowed and rolled in the swell, another sleep disturbed night. By morning it was like a millpond.

Blue, blue, electric blue
