We left Port Dover at 0915 and motored all day to arrive in Port Colborne, Ont and got the head pumped and into our slip by 1600. The winds were very light and when they did come up a little they kept switching so it was faster and easier to motor all of the way.
We are here for a week so we can get the autosteering fixed. We had a nice dinner at the local marina restaurant and then came back to the boat to uninstall the linear screw drive and its wiring. Seth got the fun job of getting back in steerage and unbolted it from the hull and the rudder mount. The wiring came out quite easily.

We rented a car this morning and drove over the Peace Bridge to Buffalo to FedEx for an overnight shipment to the state of Washington. Ouch! That is easier than going through the customs dance. But we need to get it fixed as soon as we can. They will get it mid-morning tomorrow and have us on the top of the list so we will, hopefully, know by tomorrow afternoon what the verdict it.
We considered going on without it and having it sent somewhere up the line. But we are now waiting to find out when Seth can fly out from Buffalo to go home. This hasn't turned out to be what he expected. It is a delivery trip and we are moving almost every day. He is bored quite a bit of the time. It isn't a very exciting trip right now for a 16 year old. We decided that we didn't want to turn him off from joining us later when we are really into cruising mode. That will be much more fun for him. So we have all agreed that he would be better served by going home and having fun the rest of his summer vacation.
We will miss him and have enjoyed having him aboard and look forward to having him join us when he graduates like we first planned - somewhere fun in the Caribbean.
