A pleasant night in the Hostal in Ronda . before tackling the old Moorish town of Ronda.
After driving over very steep rugged Sierras. we approached the old town of Ronda . Through gently rolling cultivated country .The approach giving no indication of the extremity of the location.
On walking down the main street . a pleasant cobble stoned gently slopping avenue .one met an intersecting avenue decorated with a fine looking Bull fighting ring.Seat of the origins of bullfighting in Spain.
On proceeding along the intersecting avenue one was soon greeted with the astounding site of the old town divided from its northern part by a huge deeply dividing ravine . A picture is required to understand fully the extremity of the topography.and centuries old engineering required to bridge the gap.
Hours were spent wandering the pathways taking in the landscape. Before msetting out again through some very rugged and sometimes rolling , Andelusian countryside A 100 odd km south to return the rental car to Benalmadema.
A very interesting 3 day trip through some very historical scenic Southern Spanish country side . A welcome relief from the intense coastal apartment hotel development & build up
