Still fixing things ( a few new leaks) and talking with the French boats. I am glad i didnt give in with Danielas wish to get a puppy. Thierry our neighbor has a Jack Russel and taking this cute doggy thru French Polynesia is quiet a hassle. And he hasn't even been to the English islands or New Zealand and Australia. That's where they make you lock up you're beloved puppy for up to six month in a quarantine cage. You pay for all this, including vet bills etc etc I love dogs, but they do get attached to you and therefore I find it quiet selfish to make them go thru all this, just so you get you're dose of doggy affection. I understand Thierry, he sails alone and it's cute to see his dog jumping in the dingy with his tail wagging asking him to go for a walk. They have quite a friendship going those two. But when I look at couples with dogs, I see another story: Both of them cuddle the dog and talk about the dog. When he last had a visit to the vet when he hurt his foot etc etc ...."love me love my dog" they say. So I often find myself listening to dog stories on those boats, if I want to or not. But what strikes me the most on couples with dogs is that you seldom see man and women exchanging PDOAs that's public display of affection. It's all directed to the dog. They don't hold hands or kiss or hug NOTHING. It might be the same on land...what do you think? I managed to get thru the South pacific Radio net, with my fixed antenna. It's a group of English speaking sailors that exchange weather and other info's all around the South Pacific. It starts with emergency traffic, then boats under way, then general check in where you are and who you are and at the end of the net you can talk to other sailors directly. This is useful and these nets pop up all around the world. It's mostly started by American boats, they seem to have a sense of community and everybody else checks in and joins. Funny that the French never do this. There was even a English net in Martinique, but nothing from the French. I guess they meet at the bistro, they are just not so "Radio Active".
