Just starting out this new blog for our boat and crew. We have a Class 40 in Southern California and built it for offshore racing in the Pacific.
We used to have a sport boat, an Antrim 27, Rattle and Hum, the need for speed and the deisre to be our own skipper in the Transpacs, Cabo, and PV races grew to selecting a boat that would hit speeds in the 20+kt range and handle big surf. At the same time we wanted something that was modern and relatively easy for my all female team when that is the case, or for the guys too, so this being designed for single handed ocean racing has a lot of harware technology.
We originally started building it for Transpac 09 LA-Hawaii, but decided to not rush the finish work and practice time so we have been sailing it in California for now, Hawaii July 2011. Our sistership California Condor is doing the Pacific Cup right now, July 2010, from SF to Hawaii.
They have a blogspot here as well: http://www.sailblogs.com/member/cacondor/
