Mountain walk

We took the mountain train from Ajaccio which was quite an experience. As the train slowly climbed through the mountains the view was magnificent, but we were also able to see large areas that had been destroyed by the forest fires.

Aerial view of the marina at Bonifacio - probably our favourite place in Corsica.

From Ile d'Yeu to Belle Ile

01 April 2009 | La Palais, Belle Ile
Ian and Jon / Sunny
The longest passage so far at just over 50 miles. Great saiiing for the first 25 miles, then the wind shifted and we couldn't make our waypoint without putting on the engine; so motor sailed the last 20-25 miles.

Checked out every feature of the radar and charts. There are some great features.

Arrived to see lots of Transat boats lined up ready for a race across the Atlantic starting 5.Apr. Loud north African style music until 2300!

Heading off on a similar length passage tomorrow to either Guilvinec or Audierne.

The photo is of the sunset just after we arrived at Belle Ile.
