There has been a change in plans. We've decided to sail Zen from Newport to Tortola on her own bottom(s). I still believe shipping Zen would be more economical and far less time consuming but the shipping company changed their sailing schedule. Instead of sailing from Newport direct to Tortola they decided to sail from Newport to Newfoundland and then to Columbia. Not sure about you but I did not want to send my boat to Newfoundland in November and then have to take delivery in Columbia. So, we decided to make a last minute change and sail her South ourselves. It took about 15 minutes to find willing crew. I will be joined by two good friends John Dunn and Scott Magilton. John is a 2nd Engineer in the merchant marines and Scott is professional rescue and recovery scuba diver. Monique will sit this one out and tend to the kids busy schedule. This is a delivery. Our primary goal is to get Zen to Tortola so the family can enjoy the Islands this winter. Fortunately I will be joined by a couple great crewmembers for what we hope is a fast and uneventful 10 day (aprox) sail from the Northeast cold to the sunshine and trade winds of the Caribbean tropics.
