Isla Isabela is National Geographic Live!
02 March 2009 | Isla Isabela, Galapagos

Penguins facing mecca just inches away, blue-footed boobies perched and eyeing the waters, while seals swam and played next to us while we were snorkeling. Isla Isabela was teeming with wildlife. It was exactly what we envisioned the Galapagos to be like. Bet everyone says this, but the whole tour felt like we were in a National Geographic movie. Mammals, reptiles, fish and birds were literally everywhere! Hiking to see the "Wall of Tears" created almost a hundred years ago by the prisoners housed here on this Equadorian penal colony, was a diversion from the wildlife. Franklin, our guide from the National Park, was an encyclopedia of information. It was a day of exercise, boating, fun and new friendships. With only 8 people in our tour party, 5 from Zen and 3 from s/v Carl Linne, it was like having a guide all to ourselves. The photo gallery is updated and ready for your comments. Enjoy all the images. Our gang certainly had a blast capturing these images. Probably the best field trip our family will ever encounter....until we do the African Safari, right???
