What Survives!

The Twisted Trees are lone survivors out here. Do they ever rot, someday maybe. They are fascinating the way they get twisted up from the wind.

The Seclusion

We found some!!! Seclusion that is. So far my experience in the Canyonlands has been different than I expected. The vastness, the beauty, that's all been inline with what I thought but I was expecting to be off more in the wilderness, away from the people. Even though the park is pretty unknown in the [...]

The Confluence

The Hoodoos

Special Moments

07 September 2014 | Presqu'ile Bay, Canada
Mary

An important reason for wanting to bring the boat to Brighton on our way out to the ocean was to hold a memorial service for two very special people in our lives. These two individuals sailed the seas themselves and were very good friends and we miss them terribly. One of them was Doug's Dad and the other his Dads good friend. We wanted to say goodbye to them in the place they wanted that to be, Presqu'ile Bay on Lake Ontario. It was the perfect day with the sun shining and a light breeze blowing, Doug's family was on board as well as the family of his Dads friend. We went out to the middle of the bay and spent time reminiscing about times we all shared together and how hard loss is but how beautiful it is that they are together. Death is a part of life. Closure is a necessary part of grieving.
A time to say goodbye is very healing. I pray we all found that that day.
