We always do A LOT of walking, not just hikes we set out on for a day but walking in general. Living on a boat life is way more about the outside world than in your small home. The first year we were sailing we brought our fold up bikes. They got a lot of use on the East Coast but in the Caribbean they proved to be challenging to use because the amount of flat land not leading up to the top of a volcano was limited. The amount of valuable space they took up in the boat and lack of use made them loose their spot and we left them at home the second year. There are times I regret this as I miss biking and its sure a faster way to get around. It is usually possible to rent a bike most everywhere we have been so today we did just that. We wanted to be able to see more of Porto even though it is on a hill. This did require getting the bike up and down the steep slope but worth it. We had seen the city at water level but now got to ride around a whole different part on the top of the hill including going across the walking bridge at the top level. We had been back and forth many times on the bottom at water level. The height at the top was a great view of the entire area which I did not see with my own eyes as it was way to scary to look down.
