Cumberland Island

22 November 2019 | Plum Orchard Anchorage

Twenty two hours from Charleston to St Simons Inlet and we are entering the channel with ships dropping anchor, ships coming out and then there is the occasional ship gone aground. Yes this is where the infamous Golden Ray cargo ship listed and rolled onto its side in St Simons Sound. It seems to be well "attended" to with several boats guarding it as well as others working on it. It was interesting to see it

2 Outrageous has been to Plum Orchard Anchorage which is off the Cumberland River and he is leading us down Jekyl Creek. The tide is low and presented some challenges but the scenery is breathtaking.

Jaxon is happy we are in daylight and in calmer waters. When we dropped the anchor he took several laps around the boat like a little kid. Truth be known we were all happy to be in and to get showers and some much needed rest. Tomorrow will be a day on the Island exploring.

While finishing the blog this morning we have heard that Pete and Dixon on Spartina are 17 miles from their destination of Stuart, FL where they will leave the boat until after the holidays. They should be in by noon today and then they will prepare the boat for their departure on Monday. It was great to spend some time with them on this trip.
